Burn Ban In Effect

County-Wide Burn Barn In Effect Until Further Notice

Delaware County Emergency Management, in collaboration with all Delaware County Fire Chiefs have enacted a burn ban for Delaware County. This ban goes into effect at 3pm on June 22, 2023, and will continue until further notice.

Conditions are very dry due to the lack of rain, and there is no measurable rain in the immediate forecast. Vegetation moisture levels are such that a small spark could lead to a large wildfire.

The use of outdoor fireplaces, barbecue grills, properly supervised landfills, or the burning of trash in incinerators or trash burners made of metal, concrete, masonry, or heavy one-inch wire mesh, with no openings greater than one square inch, is still allowed.

Fireworks are still allowed; however, if the fireworks cause a fire, criminal charges under the burn ban will apply. City/community fireworks celebrations are not affected. If a person still needs to burn other than the already allowed applications, they can request a burn permit from their local fire chief.
